Solution. #2. Tell us exactly the maker and model number of the PSU. Many are designed to work at both 120 and 240 VAC and adjust themselves accordingly, They may only show the Maximum voltage they can use. But when the unit was shipped to you, it VERY likely had a cord supplied for the electrical system where you live.
This is because the extension cord volt rating will determine whether or not you can even plug that extension cord into an outlet. 110/120v outlets do not have the same configuration as 220/240v outlets. A plug that works in 220v outlets will not enter a 110v outlet. The reverse is also true. Keep that in mind before you take a 110v extension
Matt T. 139 1 3. 5. You need the ground as well as both hots. You don't need the 4-wire dryer's neutral, so just leave that terminal on your extension cord plug not connected. Hopefully your plasma cutter is using a proper hot-hot-ground plug now, like NEMA-6, not an improper NEMA-10. – Ecnerwal. Apr 30, 2022 at 12:39.
It could take out the thermostat, or wiring. Same for the cooktop burners. Electrical - AC & DC - Adding second 220V outlet split from existing 220V. - I currently have one 220V outlet for my electric stove/range. I'm getting new cabinets/counter, and want separate cooktop and oven. They both use 220V.
Plugging a Mac mini purchased in US into 220v. I see that the Mac mini is 110-240v 50/60Hz on the Apple’s website and on the bottom of the mini too. However, it says 2.5A 125v on the power cord. The question is can I plug a Mac mini purchased in US into 220v directly? P.s. The plug shape is not the issue here. Yes, but also replace the power
Or it can short against equipment, causing arc damage (kind of a big deal in a rental) and potentially starting a fire. There is no (practical) way to make this thing fully de-energize until both plugs are plugged in. Oh, snap. It's not 220V anyway. Dude. You're in a large commercial development. You don't have "220V" (actually 240V).
A safer option would be to chop off the 120v plug and put on a 240v plug that fits your 240v socket, then build the adapter to go back to 120v for flexibility, should you ever need to charge somewhere there are only 120v plugs. Also note, the juice box can be run on 120v if needed, so the same adapter could be used there as well.
8 posts · Joined 2012. #1 · Oct 17, 2012. You guys are going to :wallbash: But if I recall correctly a 220v breaker is just two 110v rails paralleled together? So lets say I'm out in the garage and want to power up my 220v table saw motor and I have two circuits available. Could I rig up a plug that combines these two circuits into 1 for 220V?
